And the Award Goes To…

February 22, 2017 0

Award season is my FAVORITE and while I watch almost all the award shows, the Academy Awards are by far the best! Even though I've watch very few (ok, none) of the nominated films, I'm still going to host my annual Oscar party and it's going to be so much fun. Aside from the great food (more about that below), I always design a ballot for everyone to cast their vote for who will win in each category and a bingo card to add even more fun to the evening. I put the ballot, bingo card, gold star stickers for the bingo card, and a fun pen (I taped a feather to a regular pen using some fancy glitter tape) into these adorable striped bags (similar bag) for each girl. Download your Oscar Ballot and Bingo Card. Are you like me and...

Happy New Year, friends! I hope your year is off to a great start. Here are a few links that are helping me kick off the year right. Enjoy!!! Winter has been very harsh on my skin and I need to try this Brightening Grapefruit Facial Scrub ASAP. I got this Celebrate Everything! book for Christmas and have already found tons of great ideas. Darcy is super talented--even Martha Stewart agrees! I've been on a smoothie kick lately and this one is next on my list to try - New Year Breakfast Smoothie. I hope you didn't miss my Sausage and Quinoa Soup recipe this week. I also included links to my favorite soup recipes in the post. I feel like I'm constantly on the go and these Raw Carrot Cake Energy Bites have been my go-to snack....

no soup for you!

January 18, 2017 0

We've been having crazy weather here in the Bay Area lately - so much rain that there are flash flood warnings everywhere to extreme cold where I have to scrape the ice off my car windshield in the morning. Needless to say, we're not really used to experiencing the seasons here in Northern California, but puddle jumping has been fun! To help fight the cold I've been making soup every week and this weeks was the biggest hit so far - even the little one loved it. The hubby has already requested another batch of this soup and he's not really a soup person. It's super hearty with the sausage and quinoa and packs a little heat with the red pepper flakes. I've been trying to stay away from bread, but this soup would be great with a slice of...

The holidays always seem like you have far less time than usually and commit to a lot more than you should. This holiday season I'm all about making sure any project/task I take on looks like I took a lot of time to complete, but actually was very easy. A few weeks ago I needed a dessert for a potluck I was attending. I knew that everyone would have these amazing homemade dishes to share with the group and I didn't want mine to fall short even though I was definitely short on time. It took me longer to come up with this idea than the actual execution. With little time to spare and a toddler always at foot, I set out to make my dessert that looked like I spent hours slaving away in a kitchen, but actually took me on 30 minutes. By...

My current go to dessert is this amazing chocolate pot de creme. It's so tasty and can be made ahead of time. I usually make a vanilla bean whipped cream to put on top. I'm dying to make this Buddha Bowl for lunch next week. These frozen smoothie cups from Daily Harvest are the best thing I've seen in a while. They send you everything you need to make a delicious smoothie and you just add a liquid and blend it up. Genius! I'm loving all these fun summer nail colors! I want this whole outfit, but I have to have those shoes!!! I'm in love. I'I was so happy when Johanna Gaines came out with her own wall color collection. This woman certainly knows what she's doing in a house! We're about to get rid of our coffee table...

s’mores y’all

You may have seen my Instagram post last Sunday about cracking eggs. Missed it? No biggie, just click here. I can tell you now that it takes two people to crack an egg if those two are my friends Courtney and Carli. I love them both, but I wouldn't consider either of them great in the kitchen (hopefully they don't kill me for putting that out there for everyone to read). Sunday's baking adventure started when Courtney decided she wanted to buy a bunch of tools to decorate cupcakes. I offered for her to borrow everything from me before she shelled out the money to embark on her new hobby. Somehow that turned into her coming over and baking with me so I could teach her how to use everything. To make the day even more fun I invited Carli...

I wish I was talented enough to make this sideboard table. I've been looking for something like this for our living room. I think I'll make this California Chicken, Avocado, Veggie, Rice Bowl for lunch next week. Yum!!! This Hummus Plate looks amazing and I'll definitely be making it at my next gathering. This Batman parody from the opening number of Hamilton is hilarious! Haven't heard the original? Click here. I made this Fresh Tomato & Herbed Ricotta Bruschetta last night for a mom's night out event and it was a HUGE hit and super easy to make. We had a brief stretch of hot weather recently and I made simple ice cream sandwiches for a last minute BBQ. These different combinations take ice cream sandwiches to the...

I've been in a bit of a creative rut the past two weeks and have had a very difficult time coming up with ideas for blog. I find myself scouring Pinterest for inspiration, but nothing comes to me. I decide to give my mind a rest and hope that I had some sort of idea come to mind. Yesterday during M's nap I really wanted a donut. Since the little one was sleeping and I couldn't leave her (that's a parenting no-no, right?), I decided to make a batch of donuts that I quickly devoured after taking these pictures. It took a lot of self control to do that! I didn't have many weird cravings while I was pregnant. I actually had more food aversions than cravings, but no matter how crappy I felt I was always in the mood for a donut. Fortunately...

These SF Giants Commercials put a huge smile on my face--these guys are hilarious off the field. Be sure to check out the last video of the bloopers. Go Giants! I love the idea of a coffee station (the hubby takes coffee very seriously around here) and the sideboard table is amazing. I can't believe she made it herself! Pasta is a weakness of mine. This Bucatini with Butter-Roasted Tomato Sauce not only looks delicious but is super easy to make. We don't travel that much (at least not anywhere too exciting), but I was just thinking that it would be fun to get a rack to put up the coffee mugs we typically buy when we go somewhere new. Here are 6 Creative Ideas to Track Your Travels, including a mug wall. I'm sure by now...

a breakfast life for me

April 7, 2016 0

Mornings tend to be a little rushed around here lately. No matter how much I prep the night before, I always feel like I don't have enough time in the morning before we need to head out the door. Add in the fact that I'm not a huge breakfast food fan and it makes it extra difficult to fit anything in. Let me clarify my breakfast food issues. Call me weird but I don't love eggs! I really wish I did but I'll only eat them if they are covered with cheese and sausage. At that point they aren't that nutritious anymore. I love pancakes and waffles but can't live off of those every day or I'll need to fit in extra workouts to makeup for my indulgent breakfast. I also love oatmeal (yay for something healthy!), but often don't have enough time...
